Is “Net zero” still allowed under EU law?

Not on its own. Under the EmpCo Directive this is a generic environmental claim, prohibited unless you can demonstrate recognised excellent environmental performance.

Why it is a problem

Prohibited when used to suggest achieved neutrality via offsets. "Net zero" requires near-total value-chain decarbonisation per SBTi.

What to write instead

Use time-bound, verified language, e.g. "Committed to reach net-zero Scope 1-3 emissions by 2040, validated by the Science Based Targets initiative."
